About Me

Hi everyone, I’m Kara and I’m currently a Dietetic Intern rotating throughout the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area.  I completed my undergraduate dietetics degree at James Madison University in May 2016 and I am originally from the town of Gordonsville, VA. If any of these places are familiar to you, you will realize that city life is quite the change for me! I’ve gone from my home county population of about 35,400 residence to my current county of over 1,000,000 residence. While this is a change of scenery, I haven’t changed too much!

Of course as a future RD I love food! However, I also love to run, write, hike, drink wine, eat cheese, do yoga and spend time with my chinchillas. My favorite TV shows and podcasts typically have to do with murder, crime or ghosts. Although I wish this wasn’t true, I am not enough of a reader to have a favorite anything.

At this point of my life, I have no clue what I want to do within the field of dietetic, but I am happy to say I finally know what a Dietetic Internship is! It took me while to get to this point and that’s exactly the reason I have started this blog. I spent the entirety of my undergraduate career working to get placed in my first choice internship program, only to realize that I really didn’t know what an internship was. My hope is that through this blog you will gain an understanding of what a dietetic internship is from a very un-glamorous, uncensored and authentic view point. Please feel free to send any comments, suggestions, or share my posts!
